Did I say that I would be back Sunday or Monday? Uh... I meant that I would be back in the USA on Sunday or Monday, but apparently not that I would be coherent and functional. Between Saturday morning (Vietnam time) and Sunday night (US time), which is about 48 hours, I got a grand total of maybe 7 hours of sleep, 2-3 hours of which were on a plane and so do not count.
I do not do well on little sleep, so in the 48 hours after I got back, I slept for 27 hours. Not that I feel any better. I could sleep another 27, I think.
I have been forbidden to go to work until I can avoid snotting all over everything. "We don't want to get sick!" they said, pushing me out the door.
"It's just a cold!" I protested. "I'm not sick enough to stay home from work! I swear it's not swine flu! I don't have a fever or a cough and it's all from the neck up!" [now pounding on the outside of the door, begging to be let back in] (metaphorically, that is).
"You have plenty of sick leave!" they called through the door. "USE IT."
I'm really not sick enough for sick leave, but apparently, my sick leave is no longer about me.
