new york, new york

Getting to school this morning was a maze of obstacles. There were police lines (do not cross) apparently for construction sites, flooded corners, restaurants remodeling with huge stacks of wood on the sidewalk, bucket trucks (keep back) putting up new signs, sidewalks closed (use other side)- which happens to be flooded. For a few minutes, I thought I might not make it to school. Every way was blocked.

One morning when we were walking through Miraflores to class in Honduras, near the beginning of our semester there, I heard Daniel talking to another student, saying, "You have to learn the third world walk. Look at [amazedlife]. See how she WATCHES HER FEET? That's how you have to walk. You never know what is coming."
